SS: Students have a test on Chapter 2 on Tuesday Dec 3. We are starting chapter 3 on the Charter of Rights. Sciences: Lab report on chemical reactions and Study sheet for theme 3 are due Thursday Dec. 5th. We are working on the atomic models and introducing the periodic table.  Students should spend some time regularly working on their Méga-Résumé. FLA: This week we are continuing with our poetry project while we finish up with book talks.  The poetry project will be due on Wednesday, December 4th!  Be ready to present your poem (either the one you wrote or the one you analyzed) on that day! ELA: Students have begun their Visual Analysis Projects. There are 3 ways in which students can demonstrate their knowledge: 1. Creative Responses - due Friday Dec. 13 2. Math : This week we are reviewing our unit on Polynomials. The test for this unit will be on Monday December 2nd. Students should review and practice daily to prepare for this test (Chapters 5 and 7 in the textbook).  Science: Study sheet for theme 2 is due Monday. Lab report on emulsion is due Thursday. We will do the experiment (full lab report) on page 102. We will study the development of the atomic model. LA: Our essays are done so we are starting a new unit on Visual Literacy. Mr. Lopez introduced the work of Salvador Dali today & students are beginning to use words like, juxtaposition, setting & mood. Language Power 15 & 16 are due on Friday. FLA: This week we will continue our poetry unit and we will have 2 workshop periods with our Artist in Residence MC June!  (You can still pay online or bring money on Monday if you haven't paid already)  Book talks will begin next week.  Names were drawn for discussion dates last week so make sure you are finished reading and are ready to talk about your independent novel with me on your assigned date! Math : This week we continue practicing concepts related to polynomials. We will be multiplying and dividing polynomials. Students can always use the extra worksheets on D2L to improve their understanding of these important concepts. A common mistake in grade 9 is to confuse adding and multiplying polynomials therefore practice is key!  ELA: Use the  Essay Checklist  to keep your work on track for Lamb to the Slaughter essay. SS: I want to welcome my student teacher from Uof Calgary, Myriam Salhi who will be with us until Dec 13th and coming back at the beginning of February for another 3 months. This week we continue chapter 2 and spent time talking about the importance of Remembrance day. Next week, we will talk about the Jury duty. ELA: Our classes are lucky to have a student teacher join our world, Mr.Anton Lopez. He will be with us for about 6 weeks this year and 8 weeks in 2020. We have been writing our essays about Lamb to the Slaughter this week. Students need to share their GoogleDoc with me (hmfeke@cbe.ab.ca) by Wednesday 20th. Next week's classes will provide instruction and time to finish as most students are just finishing up their body paragraphs.
