Week of Feb. 3rd.

Sciences: Study sheet for theme 1 on module 3 due Monday. Many marks will be added to Power School shortly for our 2nd term. SS: We will finish chapter 4. There will be a test on Monday February 10th. FLA: We will have a reading quiz for chapters 6 and 7 on Monday.  We will then finish the final chapter of the book and have some time to complete our journal response questions. Math: The grades for the test on Chapter 8 : Equations are up. This test was difficult for most students and I encourage everyone to review these concepts. Being able to solve equations using algebra and opposite operation is a skill needed for high school. Students can come in at lunch for help! Week of Jan. 27

*Please monitor Powerschool since new marks were entered this week. Math : Math : We are completing our unit on equations (Chapter 8) this week. Students will write their test on Thursday. We will start a new chapter next week on proportion and similar shapes. This will be the final chapter before the midterm exam. SS: Secret Path reflexion due for Monday 27. Week of Jan 20th.

Science: Study sheet theme 8 due Monday. Mega R due the 27th! Why would you keep waiting for the last minute... is beyond me! SS: Quiz vocab chapter 4. You need to know the definition. You will either get the word or the definition. This week, we will work on Residential school using a Graphic Novel book by Gord Downie and Jeff Lemire called Secret Path. Ask your son or daughter about it!  I am working on report cards, so this is the last call to hand in any late assignments. FLA:  We are continuing with our novel study.  The chapter 2 and 3 quiz has been pushed to Monday, January 20.  This week we will read and respond to chapters 4 and 5. Week of January 13th

SS: Chapter #3 test on Tuesday 14th. Study/review sheet to hand-in before the test. Last marks for this report card. Report cards will be available on-line on the afternoon of January31th.  We started chapter 4 on the Collective Rights and will continue for at least another 3 weeks. In French-immersion, students are expected to participate actively in class by speaking French and using the language as much as they can so the can improve their skills. FLA:  Last week we began our novel study:   Comme une peau de chagrin.   We read the prologue and chapter 1 together and had some time to begin working on our response journals.  There will be a reading comprehension  quiz on Monday, January 13th for the prologue and chapter 1 .  You will be able to use your books to complete the quiz (as it is testing your comprehension, not your memory.) This week we will read  chapters 2 and 3  and there will be another reading comprehension quiz for those chapters on  Thursday January 16th. Week of January 6

Math : Welcome back and happy new year. We started the week by reviewing our test on symmetry and surface area. We also began a new chapter this week on solving equations (Chapter 8). Students will have a Quiz on these new concepts Monday of next week. ELA: Over the next few weeks we will be working on a reading project. This means that all students need to have a book to read every day in class. Fiction, non-fiction, poetry & graphic novels are all acceptable, as long as they are at the reading level of the student. At the completion of reading the book, students will be responsible for presenting what they have learned about the novel. They will be given choice as far as how to present the information: GoogleSlide, powerpoint, poster etc. The following Language Power lessons must be completed by January 27th: Language Power 17 - 22 All incomplete assignments for class must be handed in by January 20th.
