Week of Feb. 3rd.

Sciences: Study sheet for theme 1 on module 3 due Monday.
Many marks will be added to Power School shortly for our 2nd term.

SS: We will finish chapter 4. There will be a test on Monday February 10th.

FLA: We will have a reading quiz for chapters 6 and 7 on Monday.  We will then finish the final chapter of the book and have some time to complete our journal response questions.

Math: The grades for the test on Chapter 8 : Equations are up. This test was difficult for most students and I encourage everyone to review these concepts. Being able to solve equations using algebra and opposite operation is a skill needed for high school. Students can come in at lunch for help! We are beginning a new chapter this week (Chapter 4 : Scales and similar shapes). 

ELA: Students have been working on a reading comprehension test, which involves writing their answers. Language Power due Friday 7th:

Next week our focus will be writing thesis statements. No Language Power will be due next week.

Week of Dec. 16th

SS: Students work in groups to look over some case studies that happened before the Charter of Rights. They have a short project to hand-in next Monday the 16th on an activist Canadian woman.  The students had class time to complete this project.  next week. We will finish chapter 3 next week and there will a test mid-January. (TBD) Enjoy your Holidays! February 28

Math : This week we are working on a new chapter (Chapter 9, inequalities). On Thursday we will have a special activity day for the Francophone week. I will be handing back the Midterm exams on Wednesday.   Science: We will work on the review questions of our 3rd unit and on brain maps in order to prepare for the unit exam on March 9th. We will also begin our 4th unit: Electricity. Bring your can of Sweetened Condensed Milk! Do not forget 8$ for your Poutine on Thursday March 5th. Social Studies: Students will be working on group projects in regards to Chapter 5. They are asked to create a tourism pamphlet highlighting information and immigration incentives about a chosen Canadian province. This project is expected to be handed in on March 6 th . Week of Oct. 7th

Sciences: We will watch a short video on organ growth and work on the basis of genetics. Study sheet for theme 3 is due Thursday. Math: This week we looked at the test on Rational Numbers together and reviewed the questions that were more difficult for students. I encourage students to come in at lunch if they still have difficulties. For the rest of the week, we will continue our chapter on exponents and students have a quiz this Thursday on the 5 exponents laws. We will play a exponent bingo on Wednesday to review exponents before the quiz. SS: ELA: Language Power 9 We wrote our poems based on Kipling's "If". The work was very well done. We also read the short story "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" so that we can practice our story writing next week.
