LA:
This week in LA, we have been writing paragraphs about our puzzle piece. This project allowed students to represent themselves symbolically. It was great to learn more about each student this way. We also got back to working on Language Power - lesson 1 & 2 - grammar for everyone! 

Next week we will be working on LP lessons 3 & 4. We will also be writing our BOOKFLIX reviews to share with the whole school. This mean that all the students need to have a book, which they have read, in mind for the project. 
Power-Up:

Students need to create a 1-pager, about useful study techniques. The 1-pager will be colorful and detailed, in order to be useful when studying.

Week of Dec. 16th

SS: Students work in groups to look over some case studies that happened before the Charter of Rights. They have a short project to hand-in next Monday the 16th on an activist Canadian woman.  The students had class time to complete this project.  next week. We will finish chapter 3 next week and there will a test mid-January. (TBD) Enjoy your Holidays! FLA:  On Monday we will have a quiz on the furtur simple and conditional verb tenses.   There will be a conjugation section and a written paragraph response section.  Study your purple notes sheet!  For the remainder of the week, we will watch a movie and participate in a listening comprehension activity to go along with it.  There will be no homework over the break, have a happy holiday! February 28

Math : This week we are working on a new chapter (Chapter 9, inequalities). On Thursday we will have a special activity day for the Francophone week. I will be handing back the Midterm exams on Wednesday.   Science: We will work on the review questions of our 3rd unit and on brain maps in order to prepare for the unit exam on March 9th. We will also begin our 4th unit: Electricity. Bring your can of Sweetened Condensed Milk! Do not forget 8$ for your Poutine on Thursday March 5th. Social Studies: Students will be working on group projects in regards to Chapter 5. They are asked to create a tourism pamphlet highlighting information and immigration incentives about a chosen Canadian province. This project is expected to be handed in on March 6 th . Week of Oct. 7th

Sciences: We will watch a short video on organ growth and work on the basis of genetics. Study sheet for theme 3 is due Thursday. Math: This week we looked at the test on Rational Numbers together and reviewed the questions that were more difficult for students. I encourage students to come in at lunch if they still have difficulties. For the rest of the week, we will continue our chapter on exponents and students have a quiz this Thursday on the 5 exponents laws. We will play a exponent bingo on Wednesday to review exponents before the quiz. SS: ELA: Language Power 9 We wrote our poems based on Kipling's "If". The work was very well done. We also read the short story "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" so that we can practice our story writing next week.
