Week of Nov.18

FLA: This week we will continue our poetry unit and we will have 2 workshop periods with our Artist in Residence MC June!  (You can still pay online or bring money on Monday if you haven't paid already)  Book talks will begin next week.  Names were drawn for discussion dates last week so make sure you are finished reading and are ready to talk about your independent novel with me on your assigned date! Math : This week we continue practicing concepts related to polynomials. We will be multiplying and dividing polynomials. Students can always use the extra worksheets on D2L to improve their understanding of these important concepts. Week of Jan. 27

*Please monitor Powerschool since new marks were entered this week. Math : Math : We are completing our unit on equations (Chapter 8) this week. Students will write their test on Thursday. We will start a new chapter next week on proportion and similar shapes. This will be the final chapter before the midterm exam. SS: Secret Path reflexion due for Monday 27. We will finish Chapter 4 on Collective Rights. https://secretpath.ca/ FLA:  We will continue reading and responding to our novel.  There will be a chapter 4-5 reading quiz on Monday, January 27.  As usual, you will be able to use a copy of the novel while responding to this reading comprehension test.  This week we will read chapters 6-7! Week of Oct. 7th

Sciences: We will watch a short video on organ growth and work on the basis of genetics. Study sheet for theme 3 is due Thursday. Math: This week we looked at the test on Rational Numbers together and reviewed the questions that were more difficult for students. I encourage students to come in at lunch if they still have difficulties. For the rest of the week, we will continue our chapter on exponents and students have a quiz this Thursday on the 5 exponents laws. We will play a exponent bingo on Wednesday to review exponents before the quiz. SS: ELA: Language Power 9 We wrote our poems based on Kipling's "If". The work was very well done. We also read the short story "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" so that we can practice our story writing next week.
